Help me get a new hairstyle

Its 2008 .. time for some changes. First off being my hair. Here are the two styles i'm leaning towards .... give me your 2 cents.

Christmas

I'm not a huge fan of Christmas anymore. But one thing I do still love is Christmas lights on Christmas Eve. The girls and I just got back and it was amazing. While WE are not rich, our apartment is right smack dab in the middle of a very rich neighborhood, so the people go crazy.

I don't know if you've seen the video on the internet of the house with tons of lights that blink to music? Well there's one here in Houston. I think they rent a radio station at Christmas. Anyway, they have a big sign letting you know what station to tune your car radio to and then their lights flash to the music and they have TONS of lights. I couldn't get a good picture of the house because there were TONS of cars. But here's some other houses around us.

Most days I go visit my friend Darron on his lunch break (he works nights) we sit outside visit and every night this raccoon comes out. So we adopted him and named him Scotty. At night, with the flash, his eyes look SKEERY.

I don't really have much to talk about these days .. but here's my awesome new phone .. i love it!
Its not big like normal blackberries, its just a little bigger than a normal cellphone. But if you saw what I had before you'd know what a huge step up it is for me in size. Here's my old phone that I passed on to Ashlee .. its only a little bigger than this in real life.

Trick or Treat!

This year for Halloween Ayanna chose to be "Goth Raggedy Anne". Which is so NOT like her. She's usually a princess or something "girly". Ashlee is going through a "goth" stage but doesn't get to trick or treat this year. Something tells me Ayanna did it out of spite. Two of the neighbor girls, sisters Tamira & Rodsheer came along to.

Have a Happy what?!

Dear Proctor & Gamble,

I have been a loyal user of your Always maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the Leak Guard Core(tm) orDri-Weave(tm) absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach intight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings.

Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants. Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? Ever suffered from 'the curse'? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my 'time of the month' is starting right now.

As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills'. Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer's monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of-control behavior. You surely realize it's a tough time for most women. In fact, only last week, my friend Jennifer fought the violent urge to shove her boyfriend's testicles into a George Foreman Grill just because he told her he thought Gray's Anatomy was written by drunken chimps. Crazy!

The point is, sir, you of all people must re alize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants... which brings me to the reason for my letter.

Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi pad, and there,printed on the adhesive backing, were these words: "Have a HappyPeriod."

Are you%$&(*@#) kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James?

FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak girl, there will never be anything'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the local Walgreens armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory. For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you just have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like "Put Down the Hammer" or "Vehicular Manslaughter Is Wrong," or are you just picking on us?

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending bullsh*t. And that's a promise I will keep, always.

Everybody's dancin!!

At the carnival they had a dance contest. The younger kids (birth to 2nd grade) were by far the FUNNIEST thing I've ever seen.

I'm going to try to upload the video. Obviously the kid in the front in the red shorts was pretty funny. But the BEST is the little boy in the middle by the stairs. I couldn't zoom so he's kind of hard to see but he's wearing a blue shirt with a yellow logo on it. He's doing the robot!!!

Every year Ayanna's school has a carnival. Its actually pretty cool and the kids have a lot of fun.

Homecoming

Last night was our homecoming game.

During which I realized our Offensive Line really sucks!
Our poor quarterback is going to be feeling it today!
Top of the 4th quarter, we're tied 14-14.
The other team makes a touchdown, we're down 14-21.
47 seconds left we make a touchdown!
So we're tied 21-21.
Then what happens ....... 7 seconds left in the game .. they make an 82yard run for a touchdown .. we lose 21-28.
I felt so bad for the boys.
Our stands were PACKED, their stands were 3/4 empty but their crowd went wild.
No one wants to lose homecoming :(.
I was able to get some fairly decent pictures of Ashlee.

Thank goodness for little kids

I love my cat, but sometimes I really HATE my cat. His new favorite place is the top of my fridge. We recently discovered he's knocked a lot of things off the fridge, behind the fridge. Here was our solution.



And then of course he tried to get in on the action.

Hey guys I need some help. We're having a halloween party at work. I'm not going to dress up but wanted to bring something to the potluck.

They're giving prizes for the best tasting and most creative dish. So give me some ideas!!

She's not a baby anymore!

I can't believe Ashlee is 14. It makes me feel so old! But I love it when people don't believe I really am 33 (on Tuesday :) ) and I really do have a 14 year old daughter.

Next week is Homecoming and she's pretty excited. Another freshman boy asked her to go with a group of her friends so I think she'll have a good time. I'm so glad I have such a smart daughter. She's not perfect, but I think she'll turn out to be a pretty good adult.

Its a Love/Hate Relationship

Ok so I LOVE my job. Love what I do, make decent money, work decent hours and have very little stress (although my co-workers think its stressful but whatever they're stupid).

So what's the problem you ask? This is what I look at all day:

NO I don't work at a fast food restaurant. The company I work for produces all those FABULOUS coupons you get in your mailbox (aka junk mail). My account is the YUM corporation (yes that's really its name). They own Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, Long John Silver's, and A&W. I work on the print side so I get to look at all the ads before they go out. Let's just say I haven't had pizza in a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

Ayanna's B-day

Monday, the 17th was Ayanna's 10th birthday. I really didn't feel like doing the party THANG this year so I took her and her friend Macy for a girly day. They got manicures and their toes did. Then we picked up Ashlee and went to Joe's Crab Shack for some seafood.

I suck so bad, I forgot to bring my camera :( so I took this picture of Ayanna and her friend with my phone. UGH!

I heart my Ipod

Last weekend my man surprised me with an Ipod .. ok not just A Ipod but matching Ipods (isn't that cute). Anywhooo my company recently moved to a new building and I'm not allowed to play my radio anymore so I was going nuts listening to the sound of the A/C. So now I have all my 80's & 90's music (heck yes) on my Ipod and I am in heaven.
